Our Story
The story behind
H2 Advisors.

H2 Advisors was founded in 2018 around a belief that business owners deserved something different from the traditional advisory model.
Rather than build another traditional CPA firm, the vision was to create something more integrated: a firm focused on the financial, strategic, valuation, and transaction issues that have the greatest impact on a business and its owners.
M&A quickly became an important part of that vision, expanding H2 beyond traditional accounting and advisory work and helping shape the integrated model the firm has today.
David Hoffman brings more than four decades of accounting, tax, valuation, and expert-witness experience. Rebecca Gavidia combines more than two decades in public accounting with deep expertise in valuation, litigation support, and eminent-domain matters. Jim McCarthy brings decades of M&A experience and hundreds of completed transactions. Jay Hoffman’s background spans Big Four accounting, operating finance, strategic advisory, valuation, and M&A, allowing him to view a business through both an operator’s and a dealmaker’s lens.
Together, those perspectives allow H2 to look at a business more holistically.
We understand that an owner’s challenges rarely fit neatly into a single service line. Financial performance influences enterprise value. Tax planning affects deal structure. Operational decisions shape profitability. Valuation informs strategy. And many of those decisions eventually converge when an owner chooses to grow, acquire, recapitalize, transition, or sell.
That is why H2 was built differently.
Today, H2 brings together M&A advisory, business valuation, CFO and strategic advisory, tax and accounting, forensic accounting and litigation support, and eminent-domain business-damage analysis under one firm.
Instead of working with separate advisors across multiple disciplines, our clients have one team that can understand the business, strengthen its financial foundation, determine what it is worth, defend the numbers when necessary, structure the opportunity, and help execute what comes next.
Through all of it, the relationship comes first. We work alongside business owners and their families, often across years and generations, bringing the technical expertise, judgment, and perspective needed for some of their most important decisions.
One firm. Connected expertise. Focused on what matters next.

Nathan Cartier
Tax Accountant
Nathan handles tax across H2: business and personal returns, trusts and estates, private foundations, and the IRS and state notices that follow. He left a large firm for a smaller one to work directly with owners.

Nathan Cartier
Tax Accountant
— Bio —
Nathan leads tax work at H2 Advisors, covering compliance and planning for business owners and individuals. His view is that preparation and planning are two different services: preparation puts the numbers in the boxes and keeps you compliant, while planning looks forward at what can actually change the outcome. That means entity structure as a business grows, how an owner pays themselves, what has to happen before a sale, and which expenses hold up at year end. He also handles the unglamorous work that keeps clients out of trouble, from late S elections to income the IRS coded to the wrong account.
— History —
Nathan began his career at a large accounting firm, where he built his technical foundation in tax compliance and client service before joining H2 Advisors.

Jim "Jimbo" McCarthy
Vice President · Mergers & Acquisitions
Jimbo runs the execution side of H2's M&A practice: deal materials, buyer outreach, and client management once a business goes to market. He works with the transaction advisory team from first call through closing.

Jim "Jimbo" McCarthy
Vice President · Mergers & Acquisitions
— Bio —
Jimbo is Vice President of Mergers & Acquisitions at H2 Advisors, where he builds the confidential information memorandums and teasers behind every deal and leads buyer outreach. In a firm this size, that also means wearing several hats: pitching new clients, representing H2 at ACG events, and managing relationships through the parts of a transaction that matter most. Client management is the part he likes best, walking owners through deal terms, what buyers are saying, and what each offer really means. As he puts it, H2 gets to be a small piece of the story of founders realizing the American dream, after 30, 40 or 50 years of building something.
— History —
Jimbo joined H2 Advisors directly out of the University of Georgia, where he worked as a student equipment manager for the Georgia football team, including a national championship season. Those years, balancing 60 to 80 hour weeks with school, taught him the time management and composure under pressure that carry into a live negotiation. His deepest industry experience is in the pool sector, and he works with businesses across the Southeast with revenue from $5 million to $75 million.
